Expectations

Updowntowners has been blessed with some phenomenal volunteers over the years whom have made a lasting impact to our organization. We’re always looking for the next super-star volunteer who loves to make a difference in the community. Here are a few reasons why our members choose to get involved:

Networking
"The atmosphere in Updowntowners is more fun than any organization in which I've been involved. It has given me the opportunity to meet some pretty amazing community and business leaders who have become clients and friends." Greg Carnahan, Carnahan Financial Group

Leadership
"The skills you refine and learn by serving on committees, managing projects, building relationships, planning events and being an active public figure are simply invaluable." T.J. Casady, Vice President, Union Bank and Trust Company

Event Planning
"I really enjoy being an active member of Updowntowners. It is so rewarding to see the outcome of our work and to see the public enjoying our events." Rhonda Lieske, Certified Dental Assistant, Lincoln Oral Surgery Associates

Community
"A strong downtown leads to a strong community." Luke Traynowicz, Senior Vice President, TierOne Bank

Fun
"This is truly the best group of people you'll ever meet. Once you get started in this organization, it becomes addictive and you want to do more." Heather Bullock, Communication and Events Coordinator, Nebraska Hospital Association

So how do you make a difference in Updowntowners?
Updowntowners has an informal membership structure that provides you with the opportunity to choose your level of involvement. Our membership luncheons offer information about current events in Downtown Lincoln and the Updowntowners. By giving your time and energy to Updowntowners committees and events you will meet new people, make a difference in your community and work to make Lincoln a better place to live, work and play while having a great time. We ask you to volunteer at two events per year and encourage you to join a committee.

Remember, the more involved you are, the more you will get from the organization and your membership!
